Moving royal ceremony for the medical teams involved in treating #Colectiv survivors

Today, 17 December 2015, two hundred and fifty people attended a moving ceremony at the Elisabeta Palace, at which, in the name of His Majesty King Michael I, the Cross of the Royal House of Romania was bestowed on the twenty teams of professionals involved in rescuing, treating and transporting those wounded in the fire that occurred in the capital on 30 October 2015.

Acting in the name of King Michael I, Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess Margareta bestowed the royal decorations. By order of the King, His Royal Highness Prince Radu read out the name of each person receiving a decoration. In this way, homage was paid to hundreds of professionals from various fields: academicians, university professors, physicians, generals, officers, sub-officers, nurses, stretcher-bearers, and drivers.

The royal ceremony was attended by representatives of State institutions and two hundred members of the staff of the national emergency services who provided medical care to the victims of the tragedy that took place in the capital.

The Cross of the Royal House of Romania was bestowed on teams of physicians and medical staff from the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service, the Bucharest Emergency Hospital (Floreasca), the Bucharest University Emergency Hospital, the Professor Dr Bagdasar-Arseni Emergency Hospital, the Elias University Emergency Hospital, the Dr Carol Davilă Military University Emergency Hospital, the St John Bucharest Emergency Hospital, the Professor Dr Agripa Ionescu Emergency Hospital, the Grigore Alexandrescu Children’s Emergency Hospital, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Dimitrie Gerota Emergency Hospital, the Colțea Hospital, the St Pantelimon Emergency Hospital, the Marie Curie Children’s Emergency Hospital, the Tîrgu Mureș County Hospital, the Cluj County Hospital, the Romanian Air Force, the Ministry of Internal Affairs General Inspectorate of Aviation, the Bucur Maternity Hospital, and the Plastic Surgery and Burns Emergency Hospital.
